Lilypad Learning is recruiting University of Calgary students who want real experience, real impact, and a team that actually shows up. Two roles are open right now: Financial Literacy Educator and Director of Educational Psychology. First and second year students from any faculty are encouraged to apply.
What you'll get out of it.
This isn't a résumé line. It's a hands-on role at a registered non-profit that reached 150+ youth in its first year, and you'll help decide what happens next.
Real experience
Design curriculum, facilitate live workshops, run campaigns or build partnerships. The work is real and it ships.
A network
Work alongside community leaders, educators and organizations across Calgary, plus a tight team of Haskayne and UCalgary students.
Training & credit
Facilitator training in pedagogy, safeguarding and brand, plus LinkedIn endorsements and a reference when you move on.
Impact you can see
You'll watch a room of teens go from "I don't get it" to "wait, so I could start investing now?" Every single session.
Commitment: a few fixed hours a week for team meetings and sessions, flexible time for everything else, through the academic year. All roles are volunteer positions.

Financial Literacy Educator
You'll be the face of Lilypad in front of the students we teach, while helping to grow our reach and impact.
What you'll do
- Learn and deliver our financial literacy curriculum to student groups
- Plan for and attend sessions with students
- Reach out to schools and community groups on Lilypad's behalf
- Support marketing, social media and general admin, and attend team meetings
What you'll gain
- Hands-on public speaking and youth education experience
- Outreach, partnership and marketing experience
- A meaningful addition to your résumé and portfolio
You do not need a finance or business background. A valid police check and transportation to sessions are required.
Director of Educational Psychology
You'll help shape what Lilypad actually teaches to youth, and work closely with the rest of the team to create sessions that land and prove it with data.
What you'll do
- Design and refine our presentation materials and lesson content
- Create surveys to gather feedback from students and sessions
- Analyze session data to find strengths and improvements, and contribute to our annual statistical report
- Work with educators to turn curriculum ideas into real sessions, and attend team meetings
What you'll gain
- Applied experience in curriculum design and content development
- Hands-on experience in data analysis and surveying
- A meaningful addition to your résumé and portfolio
An education or psychology background is a plus. Strong writing and comfort with basic data help.

Before you apply.
Do I need to be a finance or business student?
No. Our team includes psychology and anthropology students, and we're actively looking for people from education, arts, science and beyond. Financial Educators need a solid grasp of the basics, and we'll train you on the rest.
When do applications close?
We review applications on a rolling basis and interview as they come in, so there's no hard deadline, so if you are interested, apply this week.
How much time is it really?
A few fixed hours a week for team meetings and sessions, and flexible time for everything else. Educators are busiest around booked sessions; the Educational Psychology role is steadier. We plan around exams.
Is there a police check?
Yes. Because we work with youth, team members who facilitate sessions complete a police information check with vulnerable sector search. We'll walk you through it during onboarding.
Can I apply if I'm in first year?
Absolutely. Some of our best educators joined in first year. Being close in age to the youth we teach is the whole point.
Is it paid?
All positions are volunteer roles at a registered not-for-profit. In return you get training, real portfolio work, references and a team that has your back.
